WAM launches daft-apeth.com
Daft-apeth: ‘A Northern (specifically Lancastrian) term for a fool, roughly equivalent to the modern term 'muppet'. Not classed as an insult but more of a term of endearment. In this case, daft-apeth is the artist alias of musician Sergio Pizzorno.
With a professional background in the psychedelic rock scene and after a few years developing a strong visual portfolio, daft-apeth brings together childhood iconography, memories, unarranged thoughts and an absurd sense of humor into a motley of vivid enamels, canvasses, sculptures, light boxes, prints and merchandise.
daft-apeth approached MODEST looking for a fully integrated eCommerce website with easy to manage inventory and database functionality. The website showcases the multidisciplinary pieces and exhibitions in a stripped back gallery whilst the ‘tuck shop’ allows retail of selected pieces and merchandise. It was important for daft-apeth that the check out process was onsite and secure ensuring that the customer journey was not only simple but also protected all the way through to purchase.
The client’s ambitions for the site were to create a gallery style atmosphere to showcase the work, much like the gallery’s the artist shows in. The site is ‘white walled’ with very simple type to let the work take centre stage. Adding the brands logo to a lazy load function gives an element of class whilst also being functional.
